Thumbnails aren't showing anymore when using the desktop app on Windows 10.
Has been like this for a while. Very annoying when trying to sort pictures. Thumnails show fine on other picture folders.
I use version v230.4.8797.
I use Windows 10 Home, 22H2
Sync folders: All is selected.
Sync preference is: Available offline.
'Save hard drive space' is deactivated.
Hey JonesDK! Did you have the chance to reinstall your Dropbox app? Please let us know if that did the trick, or in case you need more help.

Hey JonesDK, let's jump right into this!
When did you first notice this behavior?
Also, does this only happen inside a certain sub folder within your Dropbox folder, or does it happen across all the files inside it?
Feel free to send me a screenshot, in order for me to have a visual too.
While you're at it, can you also check the app's current syncing status? You can find it by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon in your taskbar next to your WiFi.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan
I'm not sure exactly when it changed but believe it was around the version that started showing these icons:
Also, I just checked that it only happens in my Camera Uploads folder. If I go into Apps then previews are shown. This is my Camera Uploads folder:
And my syncing status says: Up to date

Thanks for the visual, JonesDK! I’m guessing you’ve restarted your computer in the meantime and the thumbnails are still not showing. Correct?
As for the syncing icon next to your files, it looks like you’re seeing this one.
As a test, can you right-click on one of the files within your “Camera uploads” folder and select the “Make online-only” option? After that, please make the file available offline once again by right-clicking on it. Does the thumbnail return in this case?

Yes, I restart daily.
It's weird because I don't see the option “Make online-only”. I tried changing Sync setting to online-only and then back but that doesn't change anything.
I'll do a complete re-install of the software because somethings is off when I don't even see the option in the context menu.

Hi, just got around to it now. Tried an offline installer from Softpedia but that didn't launch so went to your main site and yes, the DropboxInstaller.exe worked. Rebooted, logged in... and now thumbnails are BACK! 😊
Thanks for the support 🙏
Btw, the icons seem at bit different. I don't see, as posted above, the icons to the right of the folders. I see them to the left like in the old days (should be a thoughtful smiley here but can't find it).

Hi Theresa
Not sure exactly how you mean - related to Windows 10?
As for Dropbox, I would say the Camera Upload feature of the app - and selection of albums to be uploaded.
