Error message "couldn’t communicate with a helper application" when trying to move a folder
Hi,
I'm trying to move a folder that contains folders with photos in it from my dropbox to Files App in iPad. Previously it worked wonderfully and i can move them just fine. But, now after i updated to the latest iPad iOS 16.1, i can't move folders from my dropbox to my iPad in the File App. It still works when moving the picture directly though but its a pain to create the folder manually my self.
I've tried restarting my iPad, delete my dropbox and re-installing them, and reconnecting them all those stuff but still got those error when moving a folder. Any idea how to fix it? or is it a bug in the iPad iOS 16.1?

Add me to the list.
iOS 16.3
Dropbox 312.3 (downloaded today)
Open File app.
Copy a file from iCloud
go to the Dropbox Public folder.
Paste
Error: The Operation Can't Be Completed.
Couldn't communicate with a helper application.

Don't know if this helps but it may be an OS problem. In trying to get my file copied from iCloud to Dropbox, sometimes I would be a file size 0 error. One problem- the file size is actually 1 mb. Don't know that helps.

Hey Richardv, sorry to see you're also having this issue.
Have you tried Jay's suggestion here, to see if it helps?

Still seeing the same issue, after removing Dropbox from Files, rebooting and re-adding it.
The folder gets created and a partial copy of either 1 file or subdirectory.
Using either iCloud or "On My iPhone"
NOTE: Files, "On My iPhone", takes significantly longer to fail, or just sits there with a greyed-out Folder, until I restart Files.
Additional Note: I get the same error even when coping a Folder in the Dropbox Location within iOS Files.
Running the latest release
Dropbox iOS App 314.2.2
iOS 16.3 (20D47)Final Note:
Issue only appears to be related when attempting to copy Folders, when I copy multiple files, within a folder, I do NOT get the error. - Jay3 years ago

Hi aperkins, are these private folders or shared folders you're trying to copy?

I’m having a similar issue. I’m getting the above error message when trying to open some files in Dropbox through the iOS files app. Tried all the suggestions above and in other threads but none of them seems to help. Any other ideas on resolving this?

Having the same error, while trying to move a .docx file from Dropbox to my iPad inside the Files App. Also when trying to upload from my iPad to Dropbox in the Files App, the document will show up on my iPad as if it was uploaded, but it does not show up on Dropbox on any other platform.
iPad Pro 12.9” 5th generation (M1)
iPadOS 16.3.1
Dropbox version 316.2 (iPad is set to auttomatically update apps, so I believe it updated on 15th of Feb, when the version was released. issue started showing up on 17th of Feb)
did some initial troubleshooting, after reading the messages in the forum, such as removing Dropbox from Locations tab, rebooting iPad and re-adding Dropbox to Locations. Also tried uninstalling and re-installing the app altogether. The issue keeps showing up.

Hello,
When I'm sending an email from my iPhone and try to attach a file from dropbox this is the message that comes up just wondering if anybody has the same issue.
