Sharing Dropbox folder Issues - Plus & free account

A client is having issues uploading files to a shared folder I created.  I have a Plus account with 2 TB of storage (163.GB used) and she has a free account.  When she tries to use the link I have sent to upload a file, her Dropbox tells her she is out of storage and cannot upload to my shared folder.  I have other clients who do not have this issue, whether they have a Dropbox free account.

Appreciate any help!

Hi DebDamm, thanks for messaging the Community!

If you have a shared folder, and the other user doesn't have enough quota, then it won't be possible to add the folder to their account.

How large is the shared folder you're trying to share?

This will help me to assist further!

Thanks for the quick replay Jay! The shared folder is empty (except for 3 empty subfolders). So basically I can't share my folder with this client unless she deletes files from HER account or upgrades?

If the folder is empty, it should be possible to add it to their account.

Could you try adding a single small file into the folder, and then ask them to add it to their account, to see if this helps?

We’ve tried that. If there is anything in the folder, she can’t upload to it without the “out of space” error message.

Hey DebDamm, sorry to jump in here, but have you considered using a file request instead of a shared folder?

This way, your client will be able to upload to your own account without impacting their own quota.

Hi Walter, I have not. Haven’t used file requests before. Will this allow her to download the files after I edit (download, edit, then upload to DB) them? ( I am a photo editor and she is a photographer)

Ah no, file requests will only allow her to upload files to your account. If you need to give them view only access after your edits, you can share a link with view only rights to the folder with her to avoid impacting her own quota.

I hope this helps a tad DebDamm
