Desktop app not installing on Windows 10

After years, Dropbox on PC has stopped working. It didn't start so I uninstalled to try reinstalling. The uninstaller didn't work, I had to use IO Bit uninstaller. Now I can't install Dropbox Desktop anymore, even with the installer off line. I get the error "Installation failed. The Dropbox installer did not start.

Hi Davide P., sorry to hear about this.

Most likely, the app could not be installed because the uninstall process failed for some reason.

Could you try a complete uninstall following the steps in this article and let me know how it goes?

    Thanks!

    Hi Walter,

yes I tried all the suggestion but it doesn't work. As I said, it all started with Dropbox not running anymore. The standard uninstall didn't work, so I used IObit uninstaller and then ran the article to complete the uninstall process. But it continues to not start the installation.

    Tks, Davide

In that case, can you send me a screenshot of the exact error you're getting, Davide?

This is the exact error. In english it is "installation failed. The Dropbox installer did not start."

Could you try clearing your browser's cache or another browser to download the installer Davide P?

Just make sure to do it with admin privileges as outlined here.

    Hi,

so I installed the Dropbox app yesterday without any issues. Today the app could not connect or sync and I uninstalled it because all other measures (disabling Kaspersky) did not work. (Note that during install yesterday Kaspersky was also running and did not pose a problem).

Downloaded the installer again and now nothing gets installed anymore. I only get the following error:

In English (short): No connection to internet. Make sure FW is disabled and DropBoxUpdate has access. (Note again that Kaspersky is disabled).

I cleaned registry and several local directories, nothing helps. And i worked yesterday.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

     Oliver

    Hi,

it "worked" but I get a dialogue box telling me that my computer is offline (which is not true btw).

And then syncing does not work (as it did yesterday)

    Hi,

this is weird. Once I disabled Kaspersky during offline installation, I finally got a logon screen for the dropbox app. I did not get it today with Kaspersky running, but I got it yesterday with active Kaspersky. This is strange.

    Thanks for the update, Oliver!

So, is the application working now as normal?
