Dropbox update pop-up keeps re-appearing on Windows 11
Help I'm losing my mind I now have 7 pop-ups asking me to install the latest update to Dropbox last month this happened I went to Dropbox/ download reinstalled the entire thing after I uninstalled it and while that solved the issue temporarily it's back again after a new update was released what it looks like is almost a virus but it's not I'll show you the installer screens and they appear to be issued by Dropbox I don't think you can fake that but I'm not 100% sure I have scanned for viruses just as an FYI but since there's no way to reach out to actual Dropbox and tell them that we're experiencing this bug on Windows PC specifically windows 11 its is requesting UAC I say yes ad it will popup again
Hi!
This morning any pop-up appears! I think that now the problem is solved!
Thank you very much for your support!
Have a nice day,
Laura

Hey Greggrz. Since there’s a new Dropbox app version that’s been released, can you make sure your desktop app’s updated to v216.4.4420 and let me know if the issue persists?

I’m sorry about that, Hedrik. Please feel free to send me your ticket number here and I’ll leave an internal note to our team for you.

Thanks, Nancy. I have updated but ir will be a while until I know for sure the issue is resolved. It was quite sporadic, sometimes going weeks between.

{smile} Thanks Nancy! I appreciate it, though I must say that I was being somewhat picayune in regard to the creation of a Support ticket... I've been in Tech Support for nigh on 35 years and have developed what most would likely call unreasonably high expectations... ;-)
I have heard back from Support and the issue has been assigned to Ticket #24699542: DB: Update pop-up keeps showing multiple windows. I will install Dropbox v216.4.4420 to see how long it takes for the issue to recur.

Hey Hedrik - thanks for the ticket number.
I can see that a member of my team has responded back to you there so I'd recommend that you take a look at your inbox for their message and let us know if you have anything else to add.

The issue may only occur when there is an update to be had; I will try to keep both threads (Support ticket and forum thread) updated, though including that in your regular Support procedures would be beneficial. :-)

I've installed the new version (216.4.4420) expecting that the issue would disappear for some amount of time - such as up until there is another release - before popping up again and, so far, I have not encountered the issue.

NancyI have the desktop app’s updated to v216.4.4420 but I am having the same issue. It is few days that I get several popups asking for updates but either clicking on Yes or No won't do anything else than closing the popup. And the popup reappear after few minutes again.

Hi Bia23, is this a personal machine or a company-managed device?
Have you installed the Dropbox desktop application with admin privileges?
