I need to gain access to an account of a friend who is disabled
I have an old laptop (Win10) that belongs to a disabled friend (stroke victim).
His wife asked if I could pull photos from his Dropbox on that laptop.
When I first connected to my home wifi, I saw his files but didn't have time
to pull them. I later tried but the laptop lost access to Dropbox (I suspect updates
to Windows may have caused the problem).
He's since lost access to his original email account.
What would his wife need to do to gain access to his Dropbox? She'd like to pull
the photos he had stored
Thanks
Tom

Hey tfjonesjr - thanks for posting on our Community and sorry to hear about this situation.
I'm afraid that without access to the email address that's linked to the account in question we won't be able to help much.
That said, when you mentioned that you saw your friend's files at first, can you clarify if it was through a web browser or locally on the computer, inside a Dropbox folder?
Any additional information is more than welcome, Tom.

I saw the photos in his Dropbox app - not the web browser.
I'm still trying to troubleshoot the network issue on his laptop but not having much success at this time.

I see, thanks for clarifying that for me, Tom. And you're unable to find the Dropbox folder again now?

The Dropbox app generates an error on his laptop, won’t connect any more

Hi from me as well, tfjonesjr.
Would you mind sending us a screenshot of that error, so we can have a visual?
Also, if the error has a hyperlink, it'd be great to have a screenshot of what you see when you click on that too.

How about just naviagting to the website http://www.dropbox.com/home ?

I get an error "No Internet connection"
I don't know my disabled friend's login - I suspect it's his now defunct cox.net email address. He's non-verbal after the stroke and his wife doesn't know what password he used so I was hoping the app had his creds stored (which they did, I saw the photos when I initially turned on the laptop). Since his Windows 10 updated once on my wifi, the Dropbox app has been giving the "No internet connection" error

Hi tfjonesjr, sorry to hear that you're having issues with that!
Do you have any security programs, like an antivirus, firewall, VPN, etc., that could be blocking Dropbox?
If so, try to temporarily disable them, to see if that helps. Also, could you try out the steps that my colleague provided in this thread of a similar case?
Let me know what you find.
