Access deceased family account
Hi there, I hope you are well.
I would like to access my deceased fathers account, as he has so many pictures that mean a lot to me and my Mum. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Sarah

If you don't have access to the Dropbox folder on your father's computer, then you would need to request access to the account from Dropbox directly. Refer to the following help article.

Hi there Rich
Really appreciate you getting back to me. I did go down this route and raise a ticket some time ago but to no avail.
I will keep trying!

Hi there,
Many thanks for your response and also apologies for my delay getting back to you.See my comments in red below, any advice would be welcome!
- A photocopy of your government-issued ID - e.g. passport?
- A valid court order establishing that it was the deceased person's intent that you have access to the files in their account after the person passed away, and that Dropbox is compelled by law to provide the deceased person's files to you - How do I go about getting these items?
Kind regards

Hey sarah copland, how are you today?
Would you mind replying back to the email my colleague has sent you? You'd need to reply back to him, in order to look into this closely, and with account specific info.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Hannah,
My wife and I are in the same situation as this person. My wife's father passed away and while clearing out their house I put all his documents/images/videos on HIS drop box account. I have the user name and password and was planning to download them when I got home. It took me some time to get to this and now when I try to log into his account it's using two-factor authentication and I can no longer access the email to retrieve the code. We have all his details and his account is even sharing some items on my account. My wife is also his executor. I read through the previous thread but I was not able to see how to open a ticket from the links on the thread.
Wonder if you might be able to help us work through this.
Much appreciated.

Hi mmenzies33, thanks for posting here!
Could I send you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this?
Keep me posted!

No unfortunately I was not. I kept pressing and explaining and finally a lawyer responded and bottom line is that without prior approval from the deceased they will not allow it. It's frustrating because the pictures are just sitting there on a server. Good luck.

Hi Walter
Thanks for your message
I did receive this process and previously asked the questions on what these mean?
A photocopy of your government-issued ID
(Would this be passport?)
A valid court order establishing that it was the deceased person's intent that you have access to the files in their account after the person passed away, and that Dropbox is compelled by law to provide the deceased person's files to you (how do I obtain this?)
Many thanks
