Notification for two files "File is "online only file" to open it first move it into your dropbox"
I made the screenshot to show exactly what is going on. The issue is that this file and the other one are deleted, or at least I tried to. This notification is just popping up over and over. I tried to find the files in dropbox online and delete them but they are not there. I'm not trying to open these anymore, I had them on the computer the other day and then started to delete them and there was a sync issue. I unloaded then reloaded the dropbox app and these two notifications go all day. I don't want to turn off notifications because there are other notifications that I get that I want to see, the issue is for these files I'm not even trying to open.

Hi,
I have an issue where I can't open or copy files on Dropbox folder. Some files works just fine but other wont open, program says that file is corrupted etc. Also a following popup come from Dropbox: "XXX.file is an online-only- To open it, first move it into your Dropbox folder."
I can move out from that folder, but cant move any files in to it. Also trying to copy results an error message.
This error just came from nowhere. Last week everything worked just fine.

Hey there, Valtteri, how are you today?
That sounds interesting indeed. Does that happen with all of your online-only files?
Can you check the version of the app that you have installed on your device? You can do this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon next to your WiFi.
Also, are you copying and pasting files, or dragging them within your File Explorer?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan!
It does not. After some testing it happens all to my files in teams folder. Personal and other shared folders works fine.
Version is: 185.4.6054
Tried to copy/paste and dragging. Results a following error message in File explorer:
Error 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accesed by the System
Tried to remove and re-install the app. No help.

Hey Valtteri, sorry to jump in here, but could you send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting so that we can have a visual too?
Also, can you (or the team admin) check if top level content management is allowed for everyone or only admins on the team?

Hi Walter ,
Here's is some screenshots about the errors that I got:
Unfortunately this is only in Finnish. Error comes when I'll try to move/copy a file in file explorer.
When try to open a file, it always messages that file is corrupted and cannot be opened etc.
Hopefully this can be fixed fast, quit annoying (and slow) to use every files from browser.

Hi Valtteri, thanks for the screenshots!
So, the first one is indeed one coming from us, however keep in mind that the second error is one coming directly from Windows.
Which action do you follow, when you see the first screenshot? If you right click on the files, and select for them to be available offline, do you get the same error?

Hi Megan
I get that error always when trying to move, open or copy files.
But we figured out the issue. I was hooked on our workplaces guest network, when switched to the main network sync errors were gone and was able to open/move/copy files normally.
Thank you for your help!

We just set up a business account to share creative files. Immediately upon downloading the app and getting everything set up, I started getting non-stop Windows notifications saying "These files are online-only. To open them, first move them into your Dropbox folder."
Everything on my PC is set to make the files available offline. I've selected the folders that I want to sync, the files are there and I can access them immediately no problem, but this notification keeps popping up at least 4-8 times a minute. I've checked the Dropbox website settings, everything is set up to be available offline as far as I can tell.
I don't want to turn notifications off completely for Dropbox, since I want to be able to see when my team is making changes. How do I make this stop? It's driving me crazy.

Hey PrimeSpcts, thanks for joining our Community.
Are you still facing this issue?
Has the Dropbox application finished syncing all your files?
You can check the sync status of the app, by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your system tray.
Let me know what you find!
