Allow us to hide certain folders from the Photos tab.

It would be very helpful to have the option to select which directories to include or exclude in the "Photos" section. We often store images or screenshots in specific folders, and these end up mixed in with our main photos, creating visual clutter.
Being able to limit the display to only the directories that actually contain photos would help maintain a more organized and focused experience.

I'm migrating from Google Drive to Dropbox and the lack of this feature is very painful.
I keep a lot of different media in my Dropbox; and seeing book covers, screenshots, album covers etc next to my photos is unnerving. The Photo tab becomes next to useless.
I'm not asking for much; just the ability to label a single folder the "Photos" folder and ignore everything else.

I think the point here is that any image (icons, logos, graphics, etc.) in Dropbox, regardless of what folder it is in, is shown in the mobile Photos tab. This is where the problem lies. The mobile Photos tab becomes basically useless.
This mobile Photos tab is totally different from the Photos folder in Dropbox where you can make and share galleries with Dropbox and non-Dropbox users alike. Why Dropbox named them both the same is beyond me because they definitely do not have the same functionality.
People are asking that only the images in the Camera Uploads folder (because that's where uploads from, say, iPhone photos, are synchronized to) and other designated folders be shown in the mobile Photos tab. This would make the mobile Photos tab much more usable.

Personally this solution would not work for me as I store most of my photos in my family vault photos folder as this is the easiest way to share my photos and see those my family have also taken - I would end up with loads of duplicates if I had to keep copies in my camera upload as well as in family to share them and ensure that I knew when my family added new photos to copy them across. If it was possible to select the root folder for photos, an on / off toggle would potentially work although I would still prefer a filter on the Dropbox photos tab so you can search for filenames / tags (I have raised this as a request) as this gives far more flexibility viewing photos - one photo can be stored once in a date structured folder/file system but with numerous tags could be viewed under many different groupings with other similar photos - kind of creating an albums viewing function but still keeping the photo tab functionality.
I would also be very interested to find out why photo viewing functionality is such a low priority when Dropbox have spent so much time putting together guides on how to store and sort your photos, automatic backing up of photos from phones, created a family fault enabling easy sharing of photos etc and creating a photo tab with good viewing functionality that is not actually usable for a large number of users - I work from home so have shared work folders on my personal Dropbox that contain hundreds of photos of other people’s children (legit photos - I work for a preschool and print photos for their learning journals). I cannot use the photo tab to view my holiday photos with a friend / family as it would inevitably show some of my work photos and I would be in breach of data protection regulations. My only option is to do a search which then only allows me to view the photos using file explorer functionality. The only way around this would be to unshare my work folders every time I wanted to view my photos and then reshare them when I need to work - completely impractical.
What is the point of having an amazing and organised photo storage facility if it is not user friendly to actually view the photos?
My photos are currently all on onedrive as I was given extra storage with my laptop but I was in the process of transferring them to Dropbox because I prefer the file storage and sharing functionality until I realised that the viewing functionality is not practical. So now thinking of leaving Dropbox family and replacing with a different subscription provider that provides me with a user friendly method of viewing my photos.

Hi Jay
I do appreciate the reply but it doesn't make sense that Dropbox's development teams have said no when your main competitors have said yes and given the much needed functionality to their platforms.
Keeping things simple - Why can't there be just two options:
Untick a check box to allow the "Photos tab" to index/show all picture files in the account holder(s) or sub user file structure.
Tick the check box to allow "Photos tab" to only index/show Picture files in the clients "Camera Uploads" folder.
This folder could be the end user(s) go to folder just for their photos which need to be viewed via Dropbox's photo app/website.
Doing this could possibly fix the numerous indexing issues when viewing photos via the Dropbox website - which you have to admit is very, very poor.
Can we have a top level general explanation on why Dropbox won't give us this basic feature please ... regards - Jay4 months ago

Hi everyone, this idea was brought to one of our development teams but, unfortunately, this is not something that the team can take on in the foreseeable future.
We appreciate the feedback on this matter on how to improve the Photos tab on the Dropbox site and app.

I've been asking/hoping for this change for sometime, as from experience it preventing a couple of customers from migrating their wedding photo business over to Dropbox. They loved the sharing abilities of Dropbox but the photo organising/viewing tools via the website were poor...
Helen44 Just for reference Microsoft OneDrive offer this feature on both their website and mobile devices shown below ...

Still haven't received an answer as to how many votes/comments it takes to get something moved from "NOT FOR RIGHT NOW" to "on the list of priority updates (or whatever)." An explanation of why this is not considered important would be nice as well.

Need to lock down photo archive. All 13,000 are entitled to copyright. I certainly do not want stray thumbnails or random deletions. Is this a reason for sluggish Drobox performance? The photo archive must remain read only with a specified protocol to update or replace. No deletions. Must the images be buried in a relational database to protect them from Dropbox? Can I disable photo recognition?

Would like to keep my original images separate from web images.
