Hello-

I'm running MacOS 13.0.1 and recently, I have had no luck removing the single badge notification. I have tried everything, reinstalled dropbox several times and now i've removed everything (including hidden files) from the folder I'm syncing and am still receiving the following message regarding a mysterious ".localized" file which dropbox cannot show me when i click 'Go to file:" "Couldn't upload. Give Dropbox permission to access this file."

I need help- I am paying for this service at this point and I really need the application to perform properly.

Thanks

Mike

Hey @mikemohr, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Could you please send us a screenshot of the error you get and the app's status and version as shown in your menu bar at the moment?

This will help us assist further, Mike.

Have you tried enabling hidden files to show on your computer and try again @mikemohr?

What about searching for this file on dropbox.com?

I have enabled/looked through all hidden files on my local Dropbox folder as well as searching for “localized” on the Dropbox website and found nothing in either event. I’d be happy to try and share my screen if you have ideas.

Are you using Thunderbird as your mail provider by any chance, given the info from this thread?

Have you tried searching for the localized file in Finder directly on your whole machine?

If you're not able to locate it, then it wouldn't be possible to resolve this behavior. Have you enabled hidden files in Finder to try searching for the file that way?

I am having exactly the same issue with a ".localized" file that Dropbox cannot take me to, and that I cannot locate in Finder, even if I enable views of hidden files (with CMD-Shift-.).

Hopefully this can kickstart the troubleshooters into figuring this out. I frankly stopped even trying to use the sync service with my laptop, and have to manually upload files via the web, which is insane, as I’m paying for this service. Would love it if someone would care enough to try and solve this issue.
