Can we have a Dropbox Family plan?

Can we have a Dropbox Family plan?

Hi Dropbox,

I currently have a Dropbox Pro account that we share with the family of 4. I would like to have a separate account per family member, but I am not willing to pay for four Dropbox Pro accounts. I think there is a market for a Dropbox Family plan. My thinking is that the total space for the family is 1 TB, the size of a Pro account. You could charge a reasonable amount per additional family member. I envision that you limit the number of family members such that this will not compete with your Dropbox Business offering.

Kind Regards.

Dropbox is great and better than any other cloud storage... I only have two issues 1) the plans 2) shared folder quota. 1) It would be awesome if they had a shared family plan, $10 per month 1TB for 1 user + $2 per month for additional users up to 4 users. 2) Most other cloud storage providers dont included shared folders to the quota of the people you share with, I understand the reason why Dropbox does this but I think any paid account should be able share folders with impacting the other persons quota. Because of these 2 issues I am looking for an alternative, I would go Google Drive but I don't like how photo from Smartphones are uploaded to Google Photo and not Google Drive.

This has been suggested a few times but the general consensus seems to be it'll almost certainly never happen as it would become a 'cheap' version of Business.

Hence having a limit of 4 users, im sure dropbox is targeting businesses big than 4 people. It will happen but is Dropbox going to lead or follow the competition. Anyway found a solution to my Google Drive issue of uploading photos from a phone to Google Drive and not Google Photos, use Gallery Drive Sync app. Guess I might just use Google Drive instead. Let me know Dropbox once you get over your mindset of having a simplify product offering with a one size fit all mentality and ill be happy to give you my money.

This is certainly a good idea. My wife has pro, and we are planning on putting all our photos in there. I would pay $2 per month to share that space, but I won't spend $10 per month to get pro myself. I will either find a work around, or just deal with it.

I am also looking for a family plan. My wife and I currently share one dropbox pro account. In the root we have folders that we share, and we have one folder each. It's not perfect, but not worth $10 a month for separate pro accounts. Especially since we don't even reach 100 GB of data in our shared dropbox account.

I'd love this as well, but, personally cant see it happening - it would be too similar to Dropbox for Business and I imagine too many people would 'downgrade' to it same as they use Pro for business use now

I completely agree that there is a market for a Family Plan. I posted the same idea about 8-12 months ago, and who certainly pay for this service. the Business offering is overkill for a family.

I'm looking to change from Dropbox due to the shared folder issue. The file's owner should determine whose quota the file counts against. Double, triple, quadruple counting files - doesn't work for me. And the inability to share folders with people who don't have the larger plan - that's not the space for. Looking at Google Drive or OneDrive. Used to love Dropbox, but it looks like I'll be leaving soon.

I have looked at OneDrive. Last I checked OneDrive doesn't sync shared folders to PC's. Therefore OneDrive is not an option for me.
I have looked at Google Drive as well. It appears to have all the options I need for my family. But the Google Drive software had a severe impact on performance of my laptop. Could be because I had the dropbox software installed as well, or some other reason. In the end I decided to stick to Dropbox. But, I think I am going to give Google Drive another try.

Also with OneDrive last time I checked you couldn't access shared folder via the desktop app you could only access shared folders from the web portal. I run both Google Drive and Dropbox on multiple computers and have never had an issue.
