View, download, and export
Need support with viewing, downloading, and exporting files and folders from your Dropbox account? Find help from the Dropbox Community.
I use Dropbox with my windows Quicken account. For the last week, I cannot open any of my Quicken backup files from Dropbox. I have spent hours with customer support from Quicken just for them to tell me all my files are corrupted and I need to start anew. This is not an option I am willing to accept at this time. I have found that I can open an old Quicken backup file from my thumb drive, but it is sadly out of date. Has anyone come across this problem before?
I gave up trying to get the 2023 Quicken files to work, so I reentered all my 2023 Quicken transactions. Thank you all for your help in this matter.
Hey @cjbarnhart, thanks for letting us know about this.
Where are these files currently located? Are they in your Dropbox folder?
And what do you see when you try to open them? If you could send us a screenshot, that would be greatly appreciated.
Any additional information you could give us would also be really helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have a Dropbox folder. This is what I currently get after trying to open a Quicken file from the Dropbox folder from my computer.
Hi @cjbarnhart, can you try to quit the Dropbox app, and then try to open them?
Do you notice any difference then?

If you mean logging out of Dropbox and then logging in again. Yes, I have done this, and the problem still persists.

Is the file stored locally (Available offline) or is it Online-only? Right-click the file and select Make available offline, then try to open it in Quicken.
When I right click the Dropbox file stored locally, I don't see an option to make available offline.
Hey @cjbarnhart, can you send me a screenshot of the options you see, when you right click on a folder, or file within your Dropbox folder?
Feel free to also send me one of the app's syncing status, and version.
It'll help me get a visual. Thanks!

This folder is the only folder that I can find with an option to toggle between "Make on-line Only" and "Make Available Online." I have been doing some trial and error and found that I can open Dropbox files for year 2022 but none for year 2023. I have tried opening the 2023 files while offline and online only and they still don't work.
