Android app defaults apps to preview files

I've noticed that the Android App (Android 12) appears to ignore the default app configured in it and always opens text files and images in Dropbox and not my preferred app, I've tried removing/resetting the apps via the "default apps" option in the app. Other Android apps, eg: file managers, Total Commander, etc pick up the correct app for viewing the file.
Has anyone else noticed this/have the same issue?

kbd files are my major complaint as well.

Somehow I got it to work. I uninstalled keepass android

    - uninstalled Dropbox (make sure to delete cache, all you settings)

    - restarted

    - set db to offline mode

    - set kbd files to open keepass.

Seems like it works, but occasionally still doesn't sync. (we were using Dropsync but it quit working on the latest sammy beta s22)

Thank you for looking into this.  If you could put it back to how it used to be back in the spring of 2023, it would be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, I'll use the "Open with..." option to open the file in the default app (even though the default app has already been defined for this file type).

I have an app on my tablet (A La Mode) that displays .abc music files.  In Dropbox, I have the default app for this kind of file set to A La Mode.  Previously, I could just tap an .abc file in Dropbox and it would automatically open the A La Mode app on my tablet.  Now, Dropbox tries to preview the file, which it can't do.  I now have to tap the 3 dots to the right of the file and select "Open With".  What's the point of having the ability to set a default app in Dropbox if you still have to select "open with"?
