File of all types cannot open on iPad or IPhone but will on PC
In the last week, I have been unable to open files of any kind on my iPad or iPhone, when I was able to do so previously. They will open on my PC!
The only thing that seems to have changed is an updated iOS on my phone

- Hi Lusil
I just checked in my Dropbox app and now it seems to be working and I can open the files I could not open before. I don’t think I have done anything from the side, but I did notice that after I was saving a file from my PC this afternoon, dropbox was taking a long time to “index” files.
Maybe that corrected the problem??
Thanks for your assistance and prompt replies.
Hopefully it stays this way
Thanks,
Rod

Hi there Rdrockt,
Let's see what we can find on this.
I'll just need a few more details on this. For example:
- Are you navigating through a web browser on your device or the mobile app?
- What happens when you try to open the files? Do you see any error messages?
Any additional info would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Lusil
I appreciate the quick response.I am using the Dropbox app on both the iPad and the iPhone. This is the message that I get.I have noticed that I can open an audio file and a JPEG picture file but I cannot open anything such as a word file or a PDF file even though I have downloaded both of those apps on my iPhone and connected them to dropbox. There’s no problem with me opening the same files on my PC which has windows.Regards,Rod - Lusil6 years ago

Thanks for the additional info, Rdrockt.
I'm afraid I'm not able to preview your screenshot. Could you please try attaching it once more?
Also, when you mention that you try to open .doc/.docx and .pdf files, are you directly selecting to open them through the mobile app or the website?
Let me know what you find!

- Pbtoasties6 years agoNew member | Level 2Hi I am having a similar issue too this week. I am unable to load all my docx files on my iphone ‘s Dropbox app. Pls help!
- Rdrockt6 years agoHelpful | Level 6Hi
My Dropbox just seem to correct itself and I was saving a file from my PC into a Dropbox and I did notice that after I was saving a file from my PC this afternoon, dropbox was taking a long time to “index” files.
I just walked away from the computer as it was turning away and taking a long time, but the next time that I try to access it on my iPhone the .docx files were available.
Try doing that, go to your PC and open a Dropbox and save a file in your dropbox account.
