You removed your access to the shared folder
Dropbox event > you removed your access to the shared folder.
I didn't. I took screen shots to prove it was a shared folder, owned by me.
I added a test folder online
Moments later dropbox sent a notification that one of the folders in that folder had been deleted. It hadn't. It was still there, both online and locally.
I checked events and saw that access had been removed. Sure enough the folder had lost its share icon locally and permission online were "only you"
Trying to get this sorted via chat and tickets, but I'm continually getting the "you must be holding it wrong" level of tech support. Its maddening.
Last week I booted the PC with the drive containing the dropbox folder offline. Since then it's been a total nightmare. I'm not saying its cause, but its correlated. If that is the cause, dropbox needs some robustness added to it's systems.
Why Am I losing these shares? Is there a way to restore it? Many of my clients are not tech-savvy. I literally had to install and configure dropbox at their premises. This isn't a small problem, its going to cost me days of faff.

Hi,
I am facing a very serious issue, couple of weeks ago one of my main folder has been deleted automatically, not found in system as well as in web, but thankfully it was found in deleted files, so I recover from there.
Today around 45 min ago, I again found my folder is not opening and error msg comes missing or deleted, again I went to web access and check deleted folder but not found any file, however, I found events, and shocked when it was notified that I remove access to my folder, this is ridiculous . I didn't do that.
Kindly Dropbox and super users please help me to recover my data, it is very important for me, and tell me how to gain access to my folder again, It is unbelievable for me that I remove my access, kindly help me. very important data. Why there is no live person or email support, chatbot is also ridiculous.

same issue happened to me today, I am the only owner of my folder to keep it online and safe, but unfortunately on desktop it showed deleted, and on web events it show message "You removed your access to the shared folder" that is totally ridiculous, no one has the access to this folder except me, and I did not remove my access, I am not a fool. totally worst experience, I was thinking to upgrade my plan, but now I am thinking dropbox is not a safer place to store files, now I have lost my files and there is no customer support, totally loss.

That means you, or somebody else in the share, have removed the access to the shared folder you are in. You could have inadvertently done that by deleting the hidden files within Dropbox.
You can try to rejoin at www.dropbox.com/share OR ask somebody to reinvite you.

Hi Mark,
But that folder was not shared with anyone; it is only for myself and I was using it. Moreover, I didn't delete it, if it was deleted then it will be on deleted folder but it was not there, then I check help online and found this URL to check the events , https://www.dropbox.com/events, and found I was removed my selft that is totally unacceptable for me, because I cannot remove myself, I was the owner and my important files are present in it.
if there is any method to gain my access again, I would be grateful to you.

It is a shared folder NOman334 - that's what the error is saying, you removed yourself from the share.
Whats important to remember here is that a folder can be 'shared' but with only one person if you didn't invite anybody else or everybody else left.
So, you need to rejoin it at www.dropbox.com/share to regain the access.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply, I didn't delete, and it is not found in a deleted folder as well. Also, no body has the access to this folder except me, I'm the only owner, and user of that folder. never shared to anyone. very mysterious for me. all gone.
Moreover, it is also not showing in the https://www.dropbox.com/share/recents
if it was shared then it would shown there.,..I;m stuck..what to do.

Hey NOman334, sorry to hear about this.
In Dropbox terms, the owner of the folder is the person who created the folder or someone that the original owner has appointed as an owner.
Is it possible that someone else created it and then removed you from it?
If you search for example files through the search bar in your "all files" page, what do you see?

Hi Hannah,
I would like to emphasize that I created that folder exclusively for keeping my personal and critical files, and I have not shared access to this folder with anyone. That means I'm the only owner and the only user.
I am currently facing a perplexing situation where it appears that I have been removed from this folder.
I've noticed a folder on my smartphone that is displayed in grey, but I am unable to rejoin it. This raises concerns about the security of Dropbox, as I cannot understand how someone else could remove me from this folder. Your guidance or assistance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi NOman334, as you saw the message 'You removed your access to the shared folder', this means it was definitely a shared folder, and not a private folder, since that message only appears with shared folders. You can test this yourself by deleting a private folder.
It doesn't necessarily mean that you removed your own access to the folder, however. It could be that another member of the folder removed you from it. Is it possible you were part of a Dropbox Business team and then were removed from the team by the admin converting you to a personal account?
Due to this, it wouldn't be possible to recover any data from that folder. You'll need to locate the original invite in your inbox for the shared folder to see who invited you, and contact their email directly to share the folder with you again.
