Can't access shared folder because access has been given to a different account
My secondary email was given to a 3rd party for access to a folder, when I try to open the folder I get a message that says I’m signed in with my primary email and therefore cannot access. WhT am in doing wrong?

Hey @Louland - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting so that we can have a visual too?
Is this folder a shared folder or one that you created/own?
Any additional information is more than welcome!
- Louland3 years agoExplorer | Level 3I am trying to open a shared folder. The message after I click on the link add to drop box is:
***@icloud.com#was given access, but you’re signed in as *****@globalnet.co.uk - Hannah3 years ago

Hey Louland, the error means that the person who originally shared this folder, shared it to the icloud address.
Are you signed in to Dropbox with that address in order to access the folder?
And if so, do you perhaps see the folder here?
- Louland3 years agoExplorer | Level 3Thank you, I realised that, but thought having registered the secondary email it would also recognise that as welI ….I guess that’s not the case? Thank you

The secondary email you add to your Dropbox account, is indeed used for sharing purposes.
However, can you please clarify exactly what you mean by "My secondary email was given to a 3rd party for access to a folder", to make sure we're on the same page?
- Louland3 years agoExplorer | Level 3Sorry lets me try again- I am studying and my tutor has sent, to my secondary email address, a Dropbox link to her folder, where she uploads supporting documents, the email says “just click on the blue "Add to Dropbox" link. “ it is when I click on this link I get the message. Thank you for your help

Hey Louland, sorry to jump in here!
Could you try opening the folder from another browser and let me know if you still get the same results?
Just to rule that out, you are certain that the invitation and the secondary email are spelled correctly without any mistakes, right?
In addition to this, feel free to send me a screenshot of the error you see on your end.

Hi Megan
Sorry it took a few days to access my desktop PC, and a different browser- I am getting the same message, ie that ~I am signed in with the wrong account so it will not open the folder. I've tried safari and Edhe/chrome

Hi Hannah
I'm signed in with my primary email address, it has been sent to the secondary email not the primary.
