error 0x80004002

I've used dropbox for years but today it is a mess. Sent images from my android phone to desktop but they only show up on the webpage not in my library so I can't upload them to a selling website. Tried downloading, installing, updating. Installations seemed to be working but then stopped and now I keep getting the error 0x80004002. Desktop is no longer showing up as a program and isn't in my iobit uninstaller. I use chrome windows 10, lenovo laptop. Do I have to upgrade to get my phone and laptop to synch and function correctly?

Hi there bellestarr99 - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please let us know the OS version of your devices and send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting so that we can have a look too?

Also, do you happen to be running any antivirus, firewalls or VPN/proxy settings on your computer?

Let us know more and we'll take it from there.

    Thanks for this info, bellestarr99.

If you have any security programs, like Walter mentioned, can you try to temporarily disable them and see if that helps with the installation?

If not, try from this link instead and let us know what happens.

Nope, firewall off didn't work. I had tried that link a few times already...downloads but won't open per the screenshot.    Was just looking around and now i can see dropbox in my library as being on desktop so I guess I can now access my photos on my laptop to upload.  But it isn't listed as an active app anywhere, no icon. Weird.

Hi bellestarr99, you mentioned the "iobit uninstaller", have you tried uninstalling directly from the device's Settings > Apps?

Just asking, to check if an uninstall then re-install would help.

There is nothing to uninstall...I said the installed dropbox desktop that i've had for years doesn't show up in start or in uninstall as existing. It somehow got uninstalled. I just downloaded and installed a large office program easily so the problem is with the dropbox install icon, not my computer. I have the website and dropbox is still accessible in the library as a program on desktop although it doesn't exist anywhere so I'll adjust to how to use it. When I was searching for help I saw posts going back years about this very problem of not installing.

    Thanks for trying, bellestarr99.

Well, since this is indeed a Microsoft error, I would actually suggest reaching out to Microsoft at this point.

You should also be able to find more info about it in this Microsoft article.
