Hi Dragonboy4712, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application, while no uninstalling it first, using this link?
Keep me updated with any progress.

Thanks for the reply Jay.
(By the way my username is Dropboxboy4712, not Dragonboy4712, as you wrote)
So I did as you suggested. I uninstalled the previous version, downloaded and installed a new version. The new dropbox app is in my Applications folder. HOWEVER, after that I got a popup that said "Dropbox cannot work properly because the dropbox folder has been moved from its original position" I don't know what that means?? I did not move anything, just uninstalled and reinstalled dropbox. Any way to tell if everything is OK or not? Thanks

Hey Dragonboy4712, allow me to clarify this.
To avoid confusion, Community usernames usually cannot contain the word 'Dropbox', because we use it to identify our own staff here in the forum.
You can change your username at any time by going to My Settings > Personal > Username, if you wish.
Regarding your issue, Jay actually suggested reinstalling the Dropbox app, without uninstalling it first, so we might have created a little issue here.
What is the location of your Dropbox folder at the moment?
Also, if you hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, what do you see?

HI HANNAH,
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS:
1) I DON'T SEE A DROPBOX FOLDER ANYWHERE, BUT THE DROPBOX APP. IS IN MY APPLICATIONS FOLDER IN MY HARDDRIVE.
2) WHEN I HOVER OVER THE DROPBOX ICON IN THE MENU BAR I SEE THIS:
DROPBOX 182.4.6427 UP TO DATE
DOES THIS HELP?

Could you try checking the location of the Dropbox folder from within the Dropbox desktop application preferences?
- Dragonboy47122 years agoExplorer | Level 3
When I click on the dropbox app icon, it just opens a window with all the items that are in the dropbox, However, the dropbox app itself does not open, so I can't go to preferences when the app itself will not open

So, just to clarify, when you click the Dropbox icon once in the menu bar, you're unable to click the avatar on the top right to access the preferences? What exactly happens when you try to do so?

OK thanks,
When hover over the icon in the menu bar and I click on my initials (is that what you call 'avatar?), I can access preferences. Now what?

In the account tab, is it signed into a Dropbox account? Can you also go to the sync tab, and see if it shows any Dropbox folder location?

Re/ your questions
1) In the 'Account tab, it says "Your account has 2.8GB of storage", so I guess I have an account
2) I don't see anywhere that says 'sync'> Where do I find that?
3) And where do I find the 'dropbox folder' you mention?
