A Dedicated Photos App

A Dedicated Photos App

Google Photo just annonced that thier free service is now gone. There is now room for a new player and since Dropbox is already one of the top used storages services for photos this would be an amazing fit. What I'm suggesting is a stand alone Photo app that gives users the posibility to brows view their Dropbox photos in one place. A few suggestions of features are:

* Automatic face recognition and categorization

* Search (places, objects, etc.)

* Map with all photos

* "Remember this day in photos"

Personally I don't think it needs editing features to start with, but maybe down the line!

I agree...

For me personally a better solution to organise and index photos is the missing link with Dropbox. As a Microsoft OS user with an iPhone/iPad the current MS photo solutions are very weak especially if you're not a Google customer.

Is a photo app completely dead? I have hundreds of thousands of photos going back to 2010 in Dropbox and no good way to search or organize. The automated folders works ok but does a bunch of random stuff. I love Dropbox and have been a paying customer for close to 10 years now. But I’m feeling trapped. Even Apple photos has an image search function. Even if I wanted to go in and manually organize anything it literally takes forever to load and move anything. Is there a third party photo app that can connect to my account. Feeling frustrated that nothing seems to be happening with photo backup features. It has to be one of the reasons people even sign up for Dropbox.

I just gave in and switched to google photos.

Will be leaving Dropbox.

It’s unfortunate and I held out for a year and a half but it’s just unmanageable.

A real shame really.

Would be nice to choose Dropbox folders for Photos too. Don't look for images in all the storage please.
