Missing files/folders on the app that are there on the online version
Using a small account for several people linked. Most of the content seems there when opening up through the Dropbox app but a few files and folders do not appear, but are there on the online version. I can’t seem to figure out why and what’s different about these folders and files… running windows 11

- Lost at work3 years agoNew member | Level 2Is it possible from Dropbox online to open up an excel document into regular excel and not the online excel version? When I right click on the excel file in Dropbox online it only gives me open in excel online as an option where I feel like other times there was an option to open up into regular excel. I’m using a PC, windows 11 and office 365.

Hey Lost at work , thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
Regarding the files you can access online, but not in your local Dropbox folder, can you check whether the names contain any incompatible characters?
As for opening Excel files through Excel on your computer, can you confirm that the Dropbox application on your computer is running as normal?
What's the sync status and version of the app, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray?
Let me know and we'll go from there.
- Lost at work3 years agoNew member | Level 2Great, thank-you! It was a semi-colon in the name that was the issue. As for the other question I think Dropbox is running as normal, says up to date version 170.4.5895. I’m not sure where to find the synch status…

Thanks for the update here, I'm glad to see that we found the sync issue!
The sync status is the one that says "up to date", so that's good as well.
Would you mind logging in through a different browser or a private browsing window, to see if you can find the same options when trying to open your Excel file?
