Lost in space!

I have a Basic account and am getting notified via a bar at the top of most windows, in the browser version of my account, that "You’re almost out of space! Upgrade to get 2 TB (2,000 GB) or more of space and safely share your content".

I was a long time Pro user until I retired from job as Photojournalist for a major WireService. I was given free 8 gigs of space in the beginning of my plan 20 years ago. Since I have retired I no longer needed the PRO plan of 2 terabytes, and I canceled and downgraded  to the free plan as my needs have been greatly reduced.   I have 10.4 gigs of free space I think. But I only have 198 megabytes left in my Dropbox basic folder.  It says in File info  that I should upgrade to Pro plan every time I log in from phone or PC.  I have turned off file sync as not to add files from my phone automatically. Why is it saying I have 10.8 gigs in my Dropbox but only really have  22 megabytes   Where can I see how much space I have and how much is used?  I am very confused!

You can see your actual usage on your Plan page. Also, make sure you check your Backups page. If you ever enabled the backup feature, that could be taking up the space.
