I recently switched to using Dropbox for native syncing with filesystems shared across multiple computers. So far it has been great but I have ran into an issue with syncing and ignoring files...
I found the ignore command on the Dropbox website to enter into a terminal to ignore a specified file path. Not only is it annoying to enter this command into each computer, but it creates item conflicts. The ignore command only works if the path exists, meaning that you have to create the file/folder you want to ignore first. This leads to issues when syncing - and requires you to turn off dropbox, create the file, issue the command, then turn on dropbox (otherwise you get an item conflict). Now imagine doing that for multiple folders/files across multiple computers. Wouldn't it be much easier to have a simple text file with a list of paths to ignore? This way it auto updates to all computers. This is how other similar programs that I have used work, and it is much easier.
