Access Blocked: Dropbox's request does not comply with Google policies.
Hi
I am trying to open an Excel workbook via Dropbox on my S24 Ultra so that it will save directly to it.
I go through the log in process for Dropbox in Excel and I'm getting a message saying "Access blocked: Dropbox's request does not comply with Google's policies".
I've tried add Dropbox directly in the app and I get the same message. Please help!

Hi Chris Lovegrove, welcome to our Community.
Can you walk me through the steps you’re taking to open your Excel files on the new device? Are you opening them via the Dropbox app or from the Microsoft Excel app directly?
Have you tried reinstalling both apps and/or clearing their cache? Also could you attach a screenshot showing this message you're getting?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi,
- Open worksheet in Excel
- Click 'Open in' and select Excel
- App redirects to Excel and I log in via the Dropbox log in page
- The attached message is displayed.
Excel was only installed 24 hours ago so I doubt it is a cache issue there. I have not yet tried clearing the Dropbox cache.
Thanks.

Hey Chris Lovegrove, are you having an issue with any file, or is this issue only occurring for Excel files?
Also, do you use the same email address for both Dropbox and Google/Microsoft?
I'd love to know your device's OS, and the version of the Dropbox app that you have installed there. If you could try clearing our app's cache, and then let me know if the behavior remains the same, I'd appreciate it.

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me.
The issue was only with excel files. That's all I use Dropbox for.
Dropbox and Google use the same email. My Microsoft 365 is registered with my organisational email.
App version is 414.2.2
OS is Android 14.
I have cleared the Dropbox and it honestly has resulted in a worst experience. Dropbox will now no longer open as a reader and I have to try and open in Excel. It makes me log in twice, I authenticate both, and I get the same error message. Disappointed.
Hope that helps let me know if you need anything else.

Hey Chris, can you also give this suggestion a go and let me know if it works for you?

Hi Nancy
I have tried this and it doesn't work. It just asks me to log in process sign up, I input my details and it doesn't proceed any further.

I have also just received an email asking me to verify my address to complete sign up, so this method is not working.

Hi Chris Lovegrove, could you confirm your default browser for your device, and is it up-to-date?
In addition, what is your default WebView implementation in the Android settings?
Lastly, do you see Excel or MIcrosoft Office as a connected app on this page?

Default browser on mobile is Chrome.
Chrome is fully updated.
I cannot find the webview setting you are referring to other than webview licences. I haven't changed anything so I assume it is default.
There is no option for connected apps when I open that link. The only option is default editing apps.
