File locked but team is still able to edit?

I locked a file in my dropbox desktop files. My coworker has been able to edit it online even though it's locked. Why is this happening and how to prevent that?

Hey there MBESTGEN, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you confirm that you're both looking at the same file and that you followed these steps to lock your file?

Any additional information will be much appreciated!

Yes, right click file in shared folder, click lock. Yes, same file.. I received no notification that they were editing it until this morning when I got back in, even though I was in it from 4pm until 5pm when I left and they edited it at 4:40pm. It also didn't save my changes in my copy, it did a conflicted copy this morning.

Is it possible that your team's admin unlocked the file since they can choose not to send a notification as well MBESTGEN?

Also, can you confirm whether you're locking the file on the website or locally on your computer within your Dropbox folder?

As for the conflicted copy you mentioned, note that if someone tries to edit a locked file via the desktop app it will create a conflicted copy. Does the file still appear as locked on your end? Also, was the conflicted copy created by edits someone tried to make while the file was locked? If that's so, this would be expected.
