Several files deleted without any action from me or any record of their deletion
I am having a similar issue to that in a recent post - I discovered this morning that two files saved yesterday were missing from my Dropbox folder, both as viewed through Windows Explorer and as shown on the Dropbox website. However, when I checked "recent documents" in my word processing program, I was able to open them, and when I checked their location, it was showing as that same folder.
I followed the advice in the recent post and others, and looked at the Events page, but there is no record of these two files being deleted.
It would be good to have some reassurance that this will not happen again, and that it has not been happening to other files without my knowledge. I am working on a large project with 100s of separately saved documents, and I sometimes leave a chapter for several months so would not necessarily notice one of these deletions within a 30-day period.
Thank you!

Hi SenB, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Just for clarification, you said that that the files were missing from your Dropbox folder, but when viewing the recent documents within your word processor, somehow you were still able to locate them in the same location? Is this interpretation correct?
Are you certain that those files are definitely located in the same location in the Dropbox folder, and not a temporary folder, or the Dropbox cache folder?
Is this in a private folder, or a shared folder? Are the files considered to be 'hidden files' according to your OS? Which app are you using for word processing, and does it create temporary files/folders during the creation of a document?
Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

Thanks very much for your reply Jay - it looks like I may have made a complete mistake, I'm sorry. When I go to Recent Documents in my word processor (LibreOffice Writer) and hover over the files, it shows that I apparently actually saved them to a folder on my hard drive. I thought, because Microsoft Word does this (I think), that I could check the folder location by going to Save As (i.e. that Save As would start with the option of the current folder), and that did indeed start at the folder they were supposed to be in. But it looks like Writer works differently and starts from the folder you're working in with other open files.
Thank you for the time you took to reply and sorry for the misleading post! In any case, it's a relief to discover that I do not (I hope) have disappearing files. - Jay10 days ago
