Will I lose my data, if I don't renew my Dropbox subscription?

Hi I'm new to dropbox I was wondering will I lose my data if I dont pay for dropbox after a certain time I'm aware I cant add more unless I renew.

    Yes. Dropbox does reserve the right to delete data to bring you back under quota. 

    However, it isn't done without giving warning but its clear, from number of posts on here, that people often ignore those emails and so permanently loose data.
