File Edits on files we shared via a link
Hi,
I am having an issue with permissions. We send out a link to an Excel order form and have the permissions set to view only. We want the customer to be able to download the file and then edit the file before sending back to us. We do not want the actual file saved in our dropbox to be edited, but we do want them to be able to download and edit their own copy.
What keeps happening is somehow the customer is editing the master copy saved to our Dropbox so when another customer downloads the file, the information is incorrect and shows that customers info that did the editing.
How do we allow a download only and protect the file from ever being overwritten?

Make sure you're creating a view-only shared link. Refer to the following help article (about half way down the page):
