Apps and Installations

I'm on Mac OSX 10.10.5. I downloaded Dropbox from the main website. Followed the installation instructions. When I double-click on the Dropbox icon in my Applications folder, nothing happens - though, it says I can't trash the file, because it's 'open'. In the icon on my toolbar, it says "waiting to be linked to a Dropbox account", but when I click on the "Sign-in" option on the dropdown menu, nothing happens. When I go to Preferences -> Account, the Unlink Account button is grayed out.
Could you please help?
Thanks!
Chris

@lluamco Thank you for the suggestion, but I didn't have problem with autostarting (which is managed with a file dropbox.desktop in folder /root/.config/autostart), the problem was that the dropbox daemon could not connect to the server.
@everybody
After some research solved the problem, so I will share my solution with the community.
To recall, the problem is that dropbox deamon can not connect to the server (it stays forever in this status):
Running the deamon from a terminal I get this error:
Looking at the error message ("no handler for https"), and after some research, I found that the problem was due to a missing handler for https in the URI folder (/root/Choices/URI/).
The fix is to run the following command in a terminal (as root):
ln -s /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser /root/Choices/URI/https
After this you can open the menu with a right mouse click on the dropbox icon in the tray and select the option to connect to the server. A browser should open and you should be able to link to your account
Hope this can help somebody that has the same issue!
I just uninstalled this version of Dropbox (quit out of the icon in the toolbar, then moved the icon in the Applications folder to the Trash).
I then clicked on the Install option in the drop-down menu by my name. I downloaded the Dropbox Installer (again) and followed the instructions However, it won't open, and gets stuck 'Downloading' (i.e. it doesn't move/make progress).
Please, help!
Thanks-
Chris
Same problem with respect to sign in and linking to my account. I've uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times. At no time does it ask me to log in. The app just sits there with a "Waiting to be linked to a Dropbox Account..." message. Nothing happens when I select "Sign in."
Same problem for me. I installed Dropbox 3.16.1 on Mac with OS X 10.9.5, it is always waiting to be linked to an account, but nothing happens if I try to sign in.
Help me please

DropBox please help!!!!
**EDIT: I just updated to El Capitan and it must have kick started it again as it is now working.

Hey Mark, I did what you suggested and started a ticket, and I got an automated response that basically told me to 'Google it'. Why even have a support department in the first place, if that's going to be the response...but I digress...
Seems like a lot of people are having the same issue with no solution in sight.
Same problem here, tried everything and not being able to link my computer to dropbox. Dropbox help was no help at all, only an automated response and no solutions. Installed, uninstalled, etc... useless and frustrating!
