Delete Notifications from the desktop app

Delete Notifications from the desktop app

Does anyone know how to remove the notification that a folder has been shared with you (shows on the desktop folder app at the top)?

It reads: "Ashley Stewart Shared XXXX with you"

It's driving me crazy! I've downloaded the items but the notification folder won't go away!

You should be able to remove notifications in your Notifications tab by:

  1. Clicking on the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock.
  2. Hovering over one of the notifications you'd like to remove.
  3. Selecting the ellipsis button that appears on the right-hand side.
  4. Choosing Dismiss notification

Besides that, you can get support or provide feedback in Help from the Community.

Thank you for your suggestion, and if you have another idea to share, please do!

This has finally been changed! Now it pops up a notification when you join with a button that lets you view the folder or you can hit not now and it clears! Now if only we could get folder muting.

I guess the "Not Now" button functions to dismiss the notification. Just tried it and it did clear the notification -- though the wording suggests it'll be back.

Seems to me that clicking "View folder" should also dismiss the notification, right?

Imperfect, but a lot better than it was I think.

Yeah, it's a little wonky but it gets rid of it. So whatever. As they say, perfect is the enemy of good. 🙂

And a recent update has brought back a ton of past notifications. My screen now has notifications going back three years. Dropbox is aware.

Yikes. I'm not seeing that, thank god.

Yeah, me neither thankfully.

Seems like the original problem still occurs for me.  Got an invitation a week ago to edit a folder, which I've subsequently done, but the notification still sits there (getting in the way of the 'Recently Changed' list, which is what I care about). Does anyone from Dropbox even look at these Community messages?  This problem would go away with a very simple change.  Might have to move on to Google Drive at this rate.

I have 11 messages that won't clear ranging from 2 months to 3+ years. I think only 3 of these folders are still connected/shared/synced. Contacted Dropbox support this weekend and was basically told they can't do anything to clear them. I'm going to switch to a new cloud storage service ASAP once my Dropbox is up for renewal. This is ridiculous.

How do I delete the notification that someone sent me/shared a file from the desktop program?
