Dropbox crashes Windows Explorer.exe - System not responding

So, I left my laptop on over night (thought it would go to sleep in 10 minutes, what it usually does)

That was on Sep. 12.2023

In the morning I look at my laptop. It is still on.

- There are no more icons in the lower right task bar (sound/wifi/graphics adaper... all icons are gone

- I have no wifi

- Every 5-10 seconds the screen is going black for a blink, then windows screen builds up (slowly)

- System fan is running, laptop working hard
- I can not click on windows icon (start), just does not respond
- I restart, does not change anything, same behaviour.
- I can click on the icons in the quick-launc, so I try to start chrome (but there is no wifi..no connection it says)

- I click on file explorer. It starts and immediately crashes (window does not even open, just a short blink)

I look in the task menu
- Anitmalware is working hard
- Beside that I see 4 times "Dropbox" and 2 times "Dropbox Update" running. Thats a little bit strange..so many tasks?
I quit all dropbox tasks.

System is stable.

I de-install dropbox...System stable after restart.

What the hell are you doing with my system?
You update seems to crash the whole explorer/windows system.

Hey bodomalo, thanks for letting us know about this.

The Dropbox application would definitely not affect your computer's connection to your WiFi, but let's see what we can find out about this.

Is this a relatively new or old computer? What's your OS version?

Did you just install Dropbox on it or have you been using it for a while?

And have you tried reinstalling Dropbox after the restart? How did it go?

Let me know and we'll go from there.
