DropboxMacUpdate identifier update warning on MacOS
Mac OS (latest stable) is giving this warning:
The program “DropboxMacUpdate” has been modified
Previously, the program had the identifier “DropboxMacUpdate”, but now it’s “com.dropbox.DropboxMacUpdate”. This probably means that the developer renamed the program in an update. But please inspect the names! If a process has been replaced with a script interpreter such as Python, its rules may be hijacked by a script virus.
If this a legit rename of the update app identifier?
Hi hejazzman cloudystorage1 JohntAI,
I've reached out to one of our internal teams and they confirmed that this is legitimate. It seems this isn't even a warning from macOS, it’s from a 3rd party program called Little Snitch that notifies users of identifier changes. Code signatures are validated cryptographically by macOS, not by name of the identifier.
In short, this was a legitimate rename from Dropbox.

Hi there hejazzman - thanks for posting on our Community!
Can you please confirm your computer's exact OS version and the status and version of the Dropbox desktop app installed there? You can find the latest, stable version on this page, if needed.
Apart from that, a screenshot of the exact warning you're getting would also help.
Thank you!
