The Dropbox Passwords extension updates passwords when there is no need
I have a particular login account that has multiple security levels.
i.e. It has a UserId and Password for logging in and an additional Password for specical functionality.
When I log in, Dropbox passwords populates my UserId and Password correctly.
If I invoke the special functionality, and enter the additional password when prompted, Dropbox Passwords updates the login password to the additional password and I need to cancel the update if I'm quick enough and see the dialog box.
This is annoying, is there a way to stop the automatic update.
I have also noticed that Dropbox Passwords will create a duplicate entry for some of my accounts for some unknown reason and I finish up having multiple Account records for the same site?
Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Hey PeeVee - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Just to clarify, are you referring to the Dropbox Passwords web browser extension or the mobile app instead?
If you could also send us a couple of screenshots showing the behavior you outlined, it'd be very helpful.
Thanks!

Hi Walter,
I'm having the issues with the web browser extension.
It's a bit hard to capture screenshots as the save dialogue box appears for a very short time.
The best example I can share is that I have a Trading Account with a Stock Broker.
It has a user id and password to log in.
It also has a Trading password (must be different to the login password) that I need to enter when I do a trade.
As soon as I enter the trading password, Dropbox Passwords displays the dialog indicating that it is saving the Trading Password as my login Password for the site and if I'm not quick enough, it overwrites my Login Password with my Trading Password making me go through the process of resetting my login password.
I hope that makes sense?

Hey PeeVee, thanks for clarifying!
Do you use Dropbox Passwords with a specific browser? If so, would you mind clarifying which one you use?

Yes, Google Chrome on Windows 11

Thanks for clarifying that for us PeeVee - much appreciated.
Could you, as a test, try another browser and let us know if you notice the same behavior?

Hi Walter,
I just tried it using Microsoft Edge and it seems to be ok. It didn't want to save the incorrect password.
Here are 2 screenshots of my additional trading password for the site - the first screenshot shows the password auto populated with my login password (which is incorrect).
The second shows my Trading password that I entered - note that it's shorter.
Why does Dropbox Passwords populate the Trading Password field?
Thanks

Hi Jay,
Thanks, will do.
I click on "Contact Customer Support" and "Contact Us" under Support at the bottom of the page and it just seems to go around in circles.
Not clear where to actually go to contact support.

Hey PeeVee, you can go to our support page here and then choose Dropbox Core > Integrations > Integrations General > This did not solve my issue (or to this page, in short).

Thank you, I have just submitted it.
