I received multiple strange emails from Dropbox - are they a spoof?

Received a rash of emails from no-reply@dropbox.com

Four of them say: From Porag [removed]: "Thank you for your Dropbox Advanced Plan payment of $298.75.
Invoice number: [removed].
The transaction was completed using PayPal.
Powered by Dropbox.
If this wasn’t you, call [removed] for support.
Check your Zoom account to confirm the payment details."

Of course I have not done that.

Also two separate ones say:

You’ve been invited by Dropbox Team (removed) to join Receiptdone on Dropbox.

By joining a team, you’ll get access to:

  • Team storage space
  • Collaboration tools
  • Enhanced team security

My only logical conclusion is spoof.

Agree?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, nraman.

That doesn't seem to be a Dropbox email indeed, but just to confirm, is the sender of those emails for sure the no-reply@dropbox.com address?

Even if that's the case, if you suspect that these are suspicious emails, forward them to abuse@dropbox.com and if our team finds a violation of the Dropbox Acceptable Use Policy (such as phishing, malware, or spam), they'll take immediate action.

Thanks again for sharing this with us and let me know if you have any questions.

You made the right call to reach out to us on the Community Forum!

Definitely follow the steps that Hannah mentioned but also make sure to not interact with these emails in the meantime. You can also find out more about potential phishing on this Help Center article.
