Dropbox Mac and Windows not Syncing between each other.

Dropbox Mac and Windows not Syncing between each other.

I have Dropbox installed on 3 Mac computers and 3 Windows PCs. The files I add on my PC show up on the other PCs but the files won't show up on the Macs or vice versa. It's stuck on syncing X number of files and the total is under 1MB so I know it's not a size related issue. I've restarted all of the systems and the issue persists. I've checked firewalls and network connections and all is working correctly. The PCs running windows can see the files uploaded.

What's also strange is that folder creation IS seen between all devices, both Mac and PC.

Is there a bug right now between Mac and PC versions of Dropbox?

Hey @fheide, I see!

If you've made sure that your files don't contain any incompatible characters, could you please try fixing your hardlinks and permissions as outlined here and let me know if this persists?

Hi there, @fheide, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

To start off: are you able to see the the files that you add inside your Dropbox folder on your PC when you visit your account online?

Would you mind clarifying the version of the desktop app, and the syncing status as shown in your Mac devices? If I were you, I'd also check this Help Center article.

You mentioned "folder creation". Do you mean that when you create a folder, it shows up within your Dropbox folder in all devices?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Some of my files I'm able to see and other files I'm unable to see online. I created a test folder. If I copy a file within Dropbox to the test folder, it updates correctly. If I move a file within dropbox to this folder, it updates and syncs correctly. New files are hit and miss somehow. Sometimes when I relaunch the app, the files will update, but there are 5 files that I tried to upload earlier that keep showing "waiting to sync." I've restarted several times and the error persists.

Fixing hardlinks and permissions seemed to have solved it. I did that on two devices, left it overnight because it needed to sync up the files, and this morning it's working correctly.

Thank you for showing the hardlink/permissions. I didn't know there was a hidden menu in Dropbox.
