Cannot install Dropbox app on MacBook

Hello!

I am trying to install the Dropbox app on a clean MacBook Air (2015) running Monterey 12.6.8.

When I open the downloaded dmg file, I double click the dropbox icon on the popup window and receive the message that "the dropbox app cannot be opened” with no other message or error code.

I tried every standard solve but nothing is helping:

- tried downloading an earlier version, the same result

- tried the full, offline downloader, the same result

- tried opening it with the shift+double click, the same

- tried giving full disk access to the app

- tried the slove:  adding the app on the admin page (or whatever)

- checked the system requirements, I do not beleive there should be an issue

It cannot be some login issue, since I cannot even reach the step where I should input my info in.

Any ideas?

Hi Bittobetty, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you check the steps in the advanced reinstallation page to ensure nothing is there prior to the installation?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hey Jay,

I tried the advanced reinstallation just now, and I encountered the same issue as before unfortunately. (The terminal have not found any remaining dropbox files btw).

Any ideas what can be the issue?

Hey Bittobetty - sorry to jump in here, but can you let us know if you happen to be running an antivirus, a firewall or a VPN/proxy setting on your computer?

If so, could you temporarily disable them and run the offline installer from this page directly?

    Hey Walter,

There no such softwares on this Mac. This is a realatively clean laptop, I installed only 3 apps only (2 browsers and Slack).

Sorry for jumping in, Bittobetty. I’ve logged a ticket for you, so that we can investigate this further.

Can you please check your email’s inbox/spam folder, and reply back to me?

    Thanks!
