Family plan questions regarding file access
I was on the Basic 2GB plan, and a friend invited me to their family plan, which gave me 2TB of storage. If I use this storage, can anyone in the family group, including the admin(family manager), see my files and folders? Also, if I leave the family plan and go back to my Basic plan, what will happen to the files and folders I previously stored? Will they be deleted?
Hey Yellowbelly, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community!
Let me try to answer your questions, and if you need any other clarifications, let me know.
So, regarding someone from the Family accessing your files, basically, since the files will be in your own Dropbox account, they cannot be accessed by anyone else other than you or the people you've shared them with.
There is, however, a "Family room" folder, which is accessed by everyone in the Family, so if you add files to that, everyone will be able to access them.
You can read more about that here.
As for what happens if you decide to leave the Family plan, your individual account will be downgraded to a free Basic plan. You’ll keep all your files and folders but will lose access to the features and storage space of Dropbox Family.
Here's an FAQs article with some more info, if you'd like to take a look.
I hope this helps, but let me know if you have more questions!
