Can I export the entire "camera uploads" folder to my device?
I've already search online and here but I can't find a solution. I've deleted by error the "camera" folder on my android phone (S23 Ultra). I still have all photos in the dropbox folder named "Camera uploads", but when I click on the "..." of the folder and "duplicate" I can't find the phone's folder to copy again the files on my phone. I've found online also that I could use the option "Save on device" but unfortunately I don't have that option :(
The only option I get are: - Share - Manage access - Make available offline (enables) - Remove from Special - View in folder - Rename - Duplicate - Move - Delete
Can someone help me to restore the folder on my phone ???
Thanks in advance
Alfredo

Hey Excalibur59, let's jump right into this!
To recap, I understand that you wish to save your Dropbox "camera uploads" content back to your device. Also, it sounds like you're following these steps.
Here's my suggestion: Instead of trying to save the entire folder, can you try accessing your camera uploads on the Dropbox mobile app, and selecting some files to save locally on your device?
I'm on an iPhone, and I don't have the option to save the camera uploads folder as a whole, but I can save the content locally if I select the files in it.
Looking forward to your reply!

I have a Galaxy phone also, one option to quickly move these files from the Dropbox Android app would be to :
- Navigate to the Camera uploads folder in your dropbox account
- Select the "select all" button, Its the square with a checkmark in it at the top of the screen.
- With all of your photos selected click "Save To Device"
- Dropbox will bring up your phone's internal file system, from here choose the folder you want to save to, or create a new one.
- Click "Use This Folder" to begin exporting

Hello DF-Dropbox and thanks for your help. I've followed your steps, clicked on "select all" ... Too many elements (max 1000), but I have around 16.000 photos/videos 😁
Can I move ALL of them in just one step or I really need to divide in a thousand chunk each?
Thanks again for enlightning these steps ("Save to Device" is an icon not very intuitive to find), and I hope there's a turnaround for the transfer's limit.

Hey Alfredo! Hope you don’t mind if I jump in here.
Can you send us a screenshot of what you see exactly when trying to select all files in one go? We can look into this further this way.

I'm trying to insert link to image but this is what I get:
Content Not Published
Your post contains invalid HTML. Remove the following invalid tags before publishing: a, a (class)Maybe you can go to image with this: imgur (dot) com (/) a(/) 6yvCPY7
Anyway the text in the popup (in italian) says: Too many elements selected (max 1000). Remove some elements and try again.

Hey Excalibur59, thanks for the heads up!
From the error message that you get it sounds like it'd be best to split the content into smaller batches of 1K files, before saving it to your device.
Can you try it, and let us know how this works for you?

Hi Megan, and thanks for your reply.
I'd like to but that is not an option as the alternative to select the entire folder is to select the photos one-by-one and it'd took ages.
I really don't understand why I can't move the entire folder to my phone ... I hope you can have a workaround to this and help me get my photos on the phone again :) - Hannah9 days ago

Hi from me as well, Excalibur59!
We appreciate your feedback on this; if you have an Android phone, that would be the only way to go about this.
If you have a computer, you could link it to your Dropbox account using the Dropbox desktop app, sync your photos to your computer and then connect your phone to the computer and send them to it that way.
Otherwise, you'd have to do it the way it's described in Megan's reply above.
Let me know if you have other questions.

Hi Hannah, I think I'll connect the phone to PC and send photos via USB cable, that should be the fastest solution. Anyway, IMHO, I still think that Dropbox should provide a better solution to recover photos without the 1K transfer limit,
Thank you all for your suggestions and try to help me :)
