Can't view offline files on iPad without access to the internet

Something changed over the last couple of months. I have hundreds of JPEG photos of sheet music I made and stored in Dropbox, with each jpeg saved in the Dropbox app on my iPad to be viewable off-line so that I can access them while I perform. After many years of using it this way, very abruptly something changed and my stored offline jpegs and folders are no longer viewable on my iPad if I don’t have Internet access. They all still have the blue icon illuminated indicating they are stored to my app for offline viewing but if the internet goes, everything vanishes

if I’m in a remote area without internet or cell service I can no longer access any of the images that are stored in the app for offline use ; this is a brand new issue after using Dropbox to do this for over a decade.

is there something I can fix in settings? Or was something changed permanently about the iPad app?

Hey jaik w. - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please clarify your device's exact OS version, the version of the Dropbox mobile app you're using, and how long has it been since you first noticed this behavior?

Also, is it affecting all of your offline files or just some?

Any additional information is more than welcome!

Hi Walter, thanks for the quick response.

    it’s iPadOS 18.3.2

and the Dropbox app automatically updates to the newest version, but I don’t know how to see what that version number is. It is the basic plan

This has been happening for about a month. So far luckily I have been able to use my phone as a hotspot to restore it on the fly but that won’t work for remote jobs I have coming up.

it is effecting all files and folders, absolutely nothing is accessible when I’m away from wifi.
All I get is a yellow banner saying  ~No internet connection, syncing will resume when you’re back online.  view offline files~

clicking that right now can send me to all types of stored files out of context with none of their folders or organization.

it never behaved this way before. For all these years I’ve been able to navigate between the organized folders of saved files. Any ideas?

Thank you for all the additional details jaik w.

As a test, can you try removing a single file from your offline files and re-offlining it and let me know if you notice the same behavior?

Hi Walter, I have tried that but all the folders themselves disappear when there is no wifi.
I don’t know why this started happening recently after it working for all these years.

Can you describe what you're seeing when you're offline but nothing loads? It sounds like the folder contents don't show up at all, is there an error message or something other than the banner showing up?

Edit: I think I see what you're experiencing. If you force quit the app while you're seeing this issue, I believe it'll start working once again while offline. You can also navigate to offlined folders/files via the Account tab and I believe that will work either way.
