File named "index.html" does not show up in search results

In Dropbox, I have a set of files in a folder structure such as:

Documents

  • Subfolder1
    • Subfolder1a
    • Subfolder1b

In Subfolder1, I have an index.html file that contains links to the PDF documents and image files that are stored in Subfolder1a and Subfolder1b.

When I search on the Documents folder for a word that may be in a filename or the content of the files within the subfolders, the search results contain a list of the documents that are in Subfolder1a and Subfolder1b, but the index.html file in Subfolder1 is not included even though the search word is in the contents of that file.

Is there a way for my search results to include the index.html file that is in Subfolder1?

Hi ScottyK, let's jump right into this!

Do you use a specific platform when searching for that file? (website, mobile app, desktop app)

Provided that you're on our website, would you try switching browsers just to check if this is a browser-related issue, or using an incognito mode, and then trying again?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

I’m browsing using Chrome on the Dropbox.com website doing the search.

I was reading that Dropbox doesn’t allow me to serve web pages. Perhaps this is why it won’t include the index.html file in the search results.

I printed the index.html file to PDF and Dropbox does include the PDF file in the search results.
