I can't download a 195GB video file; it won't complete past +/-25GB on the web/desktop app. Why?
Hi Dropbox community,
I am trying to download a single 195GB Prores422 .mov video file from my dropbox. I can not seem to be able to download more than +/- 25GB at a time. This seems to be true for downloading via the browser or over the desktop application. Ive tried looking through the settings but it seems like there is some cut off that kicks in automatically.
I am desperate to get this file to my friends as it a video clip of thier wedding. Getting this file downloaded should me easy. I have uploaded and downloaded around 500GB of media to and from dropbox in the past. I just can not be able to get this file downloaded. Im assuming it has something to do with the fact that its one file.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Juergen123! Thanks for posting about this on our Community.
Do you have a stable internet connection, while downloading this file from Dropbox? The reason why the download may fail from the website is because your web browser is timing out. Have you also tested this via a different browser, and/or by connecting to another WiFi network?
When it comes to the desktop app, what do you see exactly when the download fails?

Thank you for getting back to me.
The download always finsihes at random places in video. The internet is connected via a 50mbps up/50mbps down fibre line. I have downloaded the file about 5 times and is always stopping around the 25GB mark. Its showing as complete but the video files al varying lengths too. I have downloaded it via chrome and safari always cutting off at the same +-25GB mark.
the desktop app downloaded for more than 24 hours and never finished.

Thanks for the extra info and the screenshot! Can you clarify what’s your Dropbox app’s syncing status at the moment?

Hi Nancy,
It just says Syncing with estimated time changing between 8-9 hours. Its been Syncing for the last 3 days. I just hope dropbox has not currupted the actual file. Assuming its taking this long because of the checksums of some kind that are running in the background.

Hey Juergen123, I hope it's okay for me to jump in here.
Regarding the desktop app and just to make sure I have this right, is this video currently saved in your Dropbox account and trying to sync down to your computer?
If so, does syncing get completely stuck? Can you follow these steps and let us know if they help in that case?

Hi all,
Unfortunately there has been no luck on my side.
I tried fixing my hard links and it did not work. Since the update on dropbox things seem very difficult moving big files with dropbox. Ive tried downloading at a studio with a 1gbps fibre connection and still did not work. Ive tried downloading it via the browser now and the application itself. on multiple machines.
Im kinda losing hope that I can not get my data off dropbox which is very sad and very concerning. Is there a dropbox IT technician I can speak too? This seems like it needs to be addressed with a technical expert.

Hey Juergen123, sorry to hear the same issue persists.
When saying that you’ve been having issues with this since the Dropbox update, can you clarify which update you’re referring to exactly? From your screenshot, it looks like you’re using a Mac device (please correct me, if I’m wrong), so do you mean the Dropbox on File Provider update?
We’d like to gather as much info on this as possible and investigate further.

I am using a Mac Book Pro M3 Max
These kind of sync problems happened when the dropbox watch folder that syncs to online servers moved from the Update. It was infrustractional change from icloud to a storage drive classification within OS. Please see images attached for more information. MY question is how do I get my personal data from dropbox? Did dropbox perhaps corrupt my file?
Currently I have tried syncing it again. hangs in syncing mode. Like part of the file is broken or not accessible.

I'm having the same problem. The file download stops after exactly 60 minutes through every browser. The file doesn't download completely.
