New Paper interface is horrible...

Hi all

I just had my paper docs migrated into my Dropbox account. However, I still have access to www.dropbox.com/paper. There is a new Paper UI that initially shows only a couple of files. For some reason, this new UI has a completely different conceptual model or way of working. And many of the basic conventions we had in the previous Paper UI have been removed or replaced by strange alternatives.

For instance, a search on this empty space will actually return the results of your migrated Paper docs. They can be filtered, but incredibly, they cannot be sorted.

On the left side, there is a sidebar that is almost empty. Apparently, it's up to the user to create a navigation structure there and populate it with documents. I challenge you to find who to do it, but drag and drop doesn't work.

I was not offered any type of onboarding or tutorial to transition to this new UI. So, I guess I'll have to discover my way through it little by little. But honestly, I don't know if this new UI will also be removed soon.

Can anybody explain what happened with Paper?

Thanks

I feel the same way. This was a huge step backwards in usability.  I used to have a very organized set of notes are almost unusable now.

As a Team that pays for the service, we have decided to leave paper for some in-house solution, as they have just made it unusable.
Creating a simple paper in a folder in a team folder becomes a nightmare (Can't pin a folder, all new papers only created in the user's personal folder, requiring me to then move the paper to the folder I was in...
Forming our users to it takes too much ressources.
It is now designed for teenagers who randomly use and share documents. Sorry, random is only viable for use cases where everything is short-term, not for real work with long-term expectations.
I think that Dropbox has totally missed the point in their last UI update, not mentioning that the first page loading requires 100% of the time a page reload to work (from all devices, Mac and Windows, from all browsers, Firefox, Chrome, Edge...), this has been the case for nearly a year now.

Hi Nancy was there ever a solution or some sort of guide for the problem that @jaymann had posted about? we are just now seeing the updated Dropbox paper interface and none of us on our account have the same access to paper docs as we did with the old interface. Please send some guidance. Thank you!

    Hi Jaymann,

I just thought this might be able to help about your request for onboarding or tutorial on Dropbox Paper. Get free online Dropbox training with a live instructor. From Dropbox fundamentals to business training. Learn new skills through interactive sessions in a virtual classroom setting.

Find out how you can use Paper to take notes, brainstorm ideas, set meeting agendas, and track projects. https://learn.dropbox.com/virtual-training/paper-training
