Not overwriting files anymore
I recently installed Dropbox on a new machine and now whenever I download a file from Dropbox onto my PC, instead of overwriting the existing file, it appends (1) to the file name instead and retains the older file.
This hugely annoying and runs counter to what I need Dropbox to do.
I can't see any option to turn this off.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hey Steve_H - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
I'm not sure why you'd need to download the file if you have the Dropbox desktop app installed on your computer, but can you please walk us through the exact steps you take to do this and send us a screenshot so that we can have a visual too?
Thanks!

I save a Word doc to dropbox on one machine and then download it on another to replace an older version of the file

Are you downloading the file manually to your computer, or are you having the file sync from the Dropbox desktop application to your Dropbox folder?

Downloading manually. It used to overwrite, but now it doesn't

If you're downloading manually from the site, then it would be related to how your browser is saving the file, and wouldn't be related to Dropbox.
Have you tried changing your downloading settings for your browser to see if this helps?
