Camera Uploads folder is problematically large
Hi all,
I've been using Dropbox to both backup and store my photos for a number of years now, and after the recent death of a friend I've decided to use Google Photos to better organize my photos. So, now I'm trying to download/transfer the photos from my Camera Uploads folder -- however, I have in excess of 30,000 photos (292 GB), and it seems like Dropbox's organization tools can't handle that many files. The various automated tools don't work (for instance, I'd be thrilled if it would sort the photos by year, which would be easy to download), and it's not feasible to manually go through and download 35,000 photos. What's more, now that MacOS has made it impossible to set an external drive as the location for Dropbox folders, I can't even set dropbox to just sync the Camera Uploads folder to my computer, because my laptop doesn't have sufficient storage for that task.
Does anyone have any advice on how to handle a transfer of this size? I've tried using a third party service to move from cloud to cloud, but it would only move 10,000 of the files in one go, and I don't have a way to divide the folder into 4 parts (which would solve the problem).
Thank you for your help!

Hi there confusedben, thanks for posting on our Community and happy Monday!
With this amount of files I'd suggest downloading your files in small batches and uploading them to Google manually.
You can also break down the folder in smaller folders by moving batches of your files out of the Camera Uploads folder.
While we're at it, I'm not sure if any of the automation options would help, but could you have a look and let us know if they'd be of any use to you?
Thanks a bunch, Ben.
