Can I retrieve old "Camera Uploads" pictures?

Hi all,

A good 10 years ago, I used Dropbox as my default back-up for all my pictures taken with smartphone. This must have been 2011-2014. A few years back, I tried looking them up, with no result. I didn't think much of it. But now, since a recent passing, I do want those pictures back.

If I log into the account, the "Camera Uploads" folder is completely empty, without even any 'Activity'. Last modified was 7/1/2013 6:20 pm. In 2014, I received an email stating "This is a friendly reminder that your Dropbox is full!". So there must be various things stored in it!

This is all I have. Is there any way for me to find out what happend to the content? Or how I would be able to retrieve my pictures?

Hey toonb, thanks for posting your question today.

When was the last time you accessed these photos?

Have you been using the same Dropbox account ever since you uploaded them? Perhaps they're in a different account, under a different email address.

I'd also suggest taking a look at your events page, to see if you can find any recent events related to those photos.

Let me know what you find.

    Hi @Hannah!

Thank you for responding so quick!

    1. Last time I accessed the photo's may have well been 5 - 6 years ago, or even longer
    2. If I go to the account I was using back then (...yahoo.com) I can see some old files and folders which have been shared to me in 2013. In my new/current account (...gmail.com), I see files and folder which have been shared with me recently.
    3. The Recents page is completely empty in the yahoo.com -account

I hope these answers could lead to a solution. Thank you!

    Thanks for your clarification, toonb.

Do you still have access to the yahoo.com email address?

You might want to reply here from that account. It sounds like we might need to switch to email, so we can have a closer look.

Do you remember any file names?

Or if you login to the yahoo.com Dropbox account, and go to the events page, do you see any events related to those files?

That would be this account, right? [removed per the Dropbox Community Guidelines]

I don't remember any file names. Again: the 'Events' page is completely empty.

    Thank you for your assistance!

    Thanks, toonb02!

If that's the email you used to create your older account, then yes.

Can I send you an email there, so we can look into this?
