Errors when trying to load my folder list and copy & move files on the website
For the past two days on the Dropbox website (Chrome browser Windows), I have gotten get Aw, Snap! or RESULT CODE HUNG memory error after waiting (and waiting) for the folder list to populate while trying to copy or move files.
I have done all of the troubleshooting I can think of:
My internet connection(s) are fine. In fact, I'm getting same error on each of our 3 different WiFi providers.
My RAM says: 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable), and there plenty of memory space available on my Dell laptop.
My Chrome version is up to date; and I have cleared caches, removed bad Chrome extensions, and even changed Chrome DNS settings.
Same error occurs in Chrome incognito and in Microsoft Edge.
I am not able to do this project on the Dropbox desktop or iPhone app. Failure of the folder list to populate makes it impossible to finish end-of-year projects. Is there something going on? Or are there any other suggestions?
Thank you,
amcoffice

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, amcoffice.
This is quite strange indeed, but let's see what we can find.
Can you please send us screenshots of the errors you're getting?
Also, could it be that some kind of third party app is interfering with our website, like an antivirus, firewall, etc.?
Did you notice that this started happening after some kind of update on your computer perhaps?
Keep me posted.

I cannot put my finger on any particular download or third-party app within the last 2 days that may be causing this. I will, however, note that folder-load issue started after I had been working on Dropbox website for some time yesterday morning and not right after a startup.
Funny thing...Tried to attach screenshots with paperclip, and now the attachment popup window will not come up. Is there any other way to send screenshots without using the paperclip method?
Thank you.

Thanks for the update, amcoffice.
You could send them with a Dropbox link, if that's okay.

I'll have to research how to do that later (probably not until late tonight or tomorrow) making delay in my project even worse.
Now I'm wondering if the enevelope-attachment not working is related to the folder-list popup. Or if it's just "when it rains........"
I'll be in touch. Thanks again.

Got a Dropbox link for my folder of screenshots, copied it into this response, hit the reply button to send reply but got a "content not published" error for an invalid tag a, a (class)
No idea what that is since I followed the Dropbox Link instructions to paste the folder link into this reply.
This is getting quite frustrating.
All help is welcome.

It sounds like the issue may be related to how the link was formatted when you pasted it into the response. The "invalid tag" error often occurs when the platform you're using interprets part of the URL as HTML code, or if certain characters in the URL or reply are incorrectly handled. Here are some steps to try and resolve the issue:
- Check the Dropbox Link Format: Make sure the Dropbox link you're using is in the correct format. If it's a shared link, ensure it’s properly copied, starting with https://www.dropbox.com/....
- Use Plain Text: Instead of pasting the link directly into the response, try pasting it as plain text (you can remove any hyperlink formatting). You can do this by pressing Ctrl+Shift+V (on Windows) or Command+Shift+V (on macOS) to paste it as plain text.
- Escape Special Characters: If the Dropbox link contains special characters, such as &, ?, or #, these may need to be encoded or handled differently depending on the platform you're using.
- HTML Tag Issue: The error you’re seeing suggests there might be an issue with how the system is interpreting HTML tags. If you're working in a platform that allows HTML or Markdown, ensure you're not accidentally using any unsupported tags, or check for any extraneous <a> tags in the text.
- Try a Different Platform: If you continue to face issues, you might want to try pasting the link in a different text editor or platform to see if the issue persists.
If none of these work, you might need to check the help section or support of the platform you're using, as it could be something specific to their formatting rules.

With help (thank you, Muhammadakram8863), I've done more work and came up with this link - hope this reply publishes and the link works.

Still cannot believe how much work this has been just to present my help issue.
All help welcome.....time is ticking for me.

Suddenly the folder list is populating for a copy on the Dropbox website.
Since it was not an issue of my internet (same error on 3 different WiFi providers) or browser (same error on Chrome, incognito and Edge), I'd like to know what Dropbox did or changed to get the folder list working when it was not working less than 15 minutes ago.
I note, however, that the paper-clip attachment button still does not work for Community posts. Can we fix that please?
All input welcome.

Ugh.....spoke too soon............
After being able to copy and move again for about 15 minutes, same error is suddenly back again. Folder list will not populate during a copy or move on Dropbox website. Now clear that this is a Dropbox issue. Please help or fix. Thank you.
