Hi robby2025it, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

When were you affected by this ransomware according to the events page on your account?

Are you able to rollback to previous versions of your files individually?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hi rb,

I’m sorry to hear about the ransomware attack—this is a serious issue, but here’s how you can respond:

    Immediate Actions

    1. Disconnect the Affected Device
      • Unplug from the internet (Wi-Fi/Ethernet) to prevent the ransomware from spreading.
    2. Check Dropbox’s Version History
      • Dropbox saves file versions for 30 days (or longer with Extended Version History).
      • Right-click the encrypted file > Version history > Restore a previous version.
    3. Scan Your Computer for Malware
      • Use a trusted antivirus (e.g., Malwarebytes, Bitdefender) to remove the ransomware.

    Long-Term Recovery

    • Restore from Backup
      • If you have backups (external drive, another cloud service), use them to recover files.
    • Avoid Paying the Ransom
      • Payment doesn’t guarantee file recovery and funds criminal activity.

    Prevention for the Future

    • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on Dropbox.
    • Train your team to recognize phishing emails (common ransomware sources).
