Do shared files count against my storage space?
Hello-
I am wondering if shared files count in the total allowed in the basic (free) plan. There are a number of people and one non-profit organization I share files with for a total of about 7 GB. Personally I use about 1 GB. Will I be able to continue with the basic plan under these circumstances?
Thanks for any help/advice!

In Dropbox's Basic (free) plan, any shared files that are added to your account contribute to your storage limit. This includes content within shared folders and files others share with you, as long as they are saved to your Dropbox.
To manage this and stay within the Basic plan's 2 GB capacity, you can request the file owner to share a view-only link. This allows you to access or download the files without them being added to your account, thus not affecting your storage quota.

Hey Deb05468, thanks for your post!
In addition to the "view-only" link suggestion by maher1982, if you have a free account and you'd like to upload files to someone else's account without affecting your space, they can send you a file request as well.
I hope this helps!
