Dropbox says my sharing activity is interrupted when macOS saves screenshots to my Dropbox folder.

I'm consistently getting a "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity. For details or to contact support, read our help center article" error when the (MacOS) screenshot app saves a new screenshot to a Dropbox folder. I don't seem to be over my limit, malware and virus scans are clean.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for posting this here, bodkin

From the error description, it does sound like your sharing activity has been interrupted, but let’s have a look.

First off, can you send me a visual of what you see when a screenshot is being saved to your Dropbox account? From what I understand, you’re using this feature, correct?

After that, I’d like you to go to your Dropbox account online (while making sure you’re signed in with the same Dropbox account as the one on your desktop app) and attempt to share one of your files/folders. Are you getting a similar error then?

Let me know what you find.

Yes, that is how I have screen sharing set in dropbox. I see that the prefs are set to "copy link" when the screenshot is ready.

I tested sharing/transferring files via right-click. That seems to work.

Thanks for the extra info! If you only tried sharing files via the desktop app, can you also test this on www.dropbox.com and let me know if there’s no issue there either?

This is a bit of an odd behavior indeed, so I’d like to investigate it further.

If I try to share a screenshot from http://www.dropbox.com, by selecting a file and clicking the "share" button, I get an "There was a problem completing this request." alert.

Copying a link to share works.

Everything seems to work, except I get the above error after taking a screenshot.

    Hi bodkin,

Sometimes, this error occurs when Dropbox detects rapid automated file changes (like frequent screenshots). You may try:

    1. Pause and Resume Sync
      • Click the Dropbox icon in your menu bar → Settings (⚙) → Pause Syncing → 1 Hour → Then resume.
    2. Adjust macOS Screenshot Settings
      • Change the default screenshot save location temporarily (to your Desktop):
    1. Check Folder Permissions

o    Right-click the Dropbox screenshot folder → Get Info → Ensure your user has Read & Write access.

Hey bodkin - if the issue persists after JohnnyDogman's suggestions, you can also try disabling the Screenshots setting in the Dropbox app and then back on.

Let us know of any updates anyhow!
