Getting an error that I don't have enough free hard drive space when trying to sync new files
I’m trying to transfer my files from an external hard drive to my 3TB Dropbox plan. My sync settings are to be online only but when I attempt to add folders I get an error message saying I don’t have enough free space on my PC. Do you have to first use your HD space before making the files Online only? I hope not.

Yes. In order for Dropbox to sync your files, they need to exist on your local drive. Once they are fully synced you can set them to Online-only.
