How can an external user share a folder with other people outside the team?
Hi,
I have shared one of my dropbox folders with an external user outside my team. I would like him to be able to share that folder with other users. Is it possible to give this one user that permission?
When he right clicks-> share on the folder, he gets a message saying he can only share with a link. I would like him to be able to add other external users with email address.
Hi tgjptg, from what I tested from my side, indeed, when an external collaborator tries to share a team-owned folder, the only available options to share said folder is through a link or a Transfer.
With that in mind, there are two potential routes to follow here:
- You can have the collaborator share with you (the admin) the e-mail addresses of the invitees, so you can invite them.
- The collaborator can create a folder they own and share it with you; this way, they should be able to invite anyone else they need to.
Needless to say that, personally, I'd advise route #1, for company-managed files, but I thought I should mention all the technical ways you can go about this.

Hey tgjptg, thanks for reaching out to us.
Can you please check this setting in your admin console and let me know if it's set to "On (Anyone)"?
Thanks.

That setting is set to "On (anyone)" so the external user, let's call him Agent User, that I have shared the folder with can see the folder and files just fine. Agent User is not in our dropbox team.
Agent User is doing some work for us every now and then that involves sharing said folder with yet other external users by email/username, not via link. He does not have that option in the rightclick->share menu.
